Plant ID
Take a photo of a plant - the whole plant, a leaf or a flower - and Plant ID tells you its likely name, how to care for it, and whether it is commonly listed as harmful to cats, dogs or people if eaten.
Plant ID explained 🔰
- It names a plant from your photos - its likely name, its botanical name, how sure the reading is, and up to two other plants it may be.
- You give up to three photos of one plant - the whole plant, a leaf or a flower. They are checked, read once to name the plant, and then deleted.
- It tells you the light the plant grows best in and about how often to water it, and whether it is commonly listed as harmful to cats, dogs or people if eaten. We keep a short list of the most common harmful plants, and it is always checked - a plant on it is said to be harmful whatever the photo was read as. A plant not said to be harmful is not thereby safe.
- Your pets: when you keep a cat or a dog in Pet Care and a plant is listed as harmful to it, the plant says so by your pet's name.
- Your plants are listed on this page, newest first - and you can post one to Social with your photo, where others can find it and try Plant ID for themselves.
- Plant Care: each plant has "Keep it watered in Plant Care", which opens Plant Care, where you add it.
- It runs when you ask, and the plant shows here when it is done. There is no schedule, it is not part of the daily loops email, and each request counts toward your plan's requests for the day and your limits.
- Good to know: A name from a photo can be wrong - never eat a plant on its word, and ask a vet or a poison center if a pet or a person has eaten one.
