Scam Check
Paste a message you received - an email, a text, a post - and Scam Check tells you which signs of a scam it has, and what you can do, before you click or reply.
Scam Check explained 🔰
- It checks a message you received for the signs of a scam - an email, a text, a post, a letter or a call you wrote down - and says what you can do about it.
- You paste the message, up to 5,000 characters, and say how it reached you.
- Each check looks for 8 signs - among them pressure to act at once, a payment that is hard to undo, a request for passwords or codes, and a claim to be someone it may not be. You see the signs it found, whether there are many, some or few, and a short write-up of what they mean and what to do next.
- It runs when you ask: Check it starts a check at once, and the answer is listed on this page. There is no schedule, a check is not part of the daily loops email, and each one counts toward the requests your plan allows a day across all your loops.
- What it does not do: tell you a message is safe - no reading of its words can. It follows no link, calls no number and contacts nobody, and it keeps what it found rather than the message.
Finding few signs does not make a message safe: no check of its words can prove that. If it asks you to act, contact the sender through a number or address you find yourself, never one in the message.
