Prayer Times

Prayer Times works out the day's prayer or service times for your place and the tradition you choose, and tells you them every morning at the hour you pick, with tomorrow's first time. The week ahead is on this page. Every tradition is offered alike - check with your community for local custom.

Prayer Times explained 🔰
  • It tells you the day's prayer or service times for your place and the tradition you choose - Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim or Sikh, offered alike in alphabetical order - or only times of your own.
  • You give your place - your account's address or a town or a neighborhood, of which only a rough area a few kilometers across is used - your tradition and its choices: for Muslim prayers the calculation method, the afternoon school and what to do far from the equator; for Jewish times the minutes before sunset you light candles on Friday (18 unless you change it); for Sikh prayers your bedtime; for Christian prayers the Angelus hours or the sun's. You can add up to 3 times of your own, at a clock time or at sunrise, solar noon or sunset.
  • Worked out, never looked up: each time is worked out from the sun for your place's day - dawn and nightfall by the angle your tradition or method uses. Where the sun does not reach that angle on a summer night far from the equator, it says so, or for Muslim prayers follows the rule you chose.
  • How often: once a day, from 5 am on your clock, or at the hour you choose - one notice with today's times and tomorrow's first, never one before each prayer. The week ahead is on this page. Saving never brings a run sooner than 6 hours after the last one started.
  • Run now starts a run by hand, once a day across all your loops, and only while none of them is in the middle of a run. Your loops also share a spending limit; a run it holds back waits for its next turn.
  • If 3 runs in a row fail, the loop pauses. Resume starts it again.
  • A daily email sums up what your loops found - one email a day, and only on a day one of them found something. It is on until you switch it off - on a loop's page once the loop is part of your plan, or, if your plan includes Loops, on your dashboard.
  • Local custom: communities differ - check your times with yours, and change the method or the minutes to match it.
  • Anyone can see today's times for a town, with no account - nothing about them is kept.
  • To stop it, use Remove Prayer Times. Its past runs are deleted with it, and each is kept 90 days at most.
Prayer times in your town

Type your town or neighborhood and choose your tradition to see today's prayer or service times - no account needed.

The town you type and its country are sent to a service that finds places, and the position it answers is kept for a month for the next person who checks that town. The weather is read for a rough area a few kilometers across. Nothing that names you is kept.
