Run Plan

Tell Run Plan your goal, your race day if you have one, how many days a week you run and your longest comfortable run today. It plans your runs week by week, tells you each day what to run, and adjusts when a week goes sideways.

Run Plan explained 🔰
  • It plans your week of running toward your goal - a first 5K, a 10K, a half or a full marathon, or running regularly - with 2 to 6 runs a week: mostly easy runs, one longer run and rest days, each with a warm-up and a cool-down walk.
  • You enter your goal, your race day if you have one, how many days a week you run, and your longest comfortable run today, from 10 to 150 minutes. No health question is asked.
  • Each run writes a new week once a week, or sooner when you change your plan; on every other day it tells you today's run and how many days are left to your race day. Tick Done today or Done yesterday - a tick is recorded at once and starts no run.
  • How it adds up: your first week is two thirds of your runs at your longest comfortable run. When you tick every planned run, the next week has at most 10% more minutes of running; when you tick half or fewer, it is eased by 10%. A week never goes past 600 minutes, and a rest day keeps your streak.
  • Your race day cannot be a day that has passed. Once it has, the plan goes on toward your goal until you set your next one.
  • How often: once a day. A new or changed plan is taken up at the next hourly run if your limits allow it. Saving never brings a run sooner than 6 hours after the last one started.
  • Run now starts a run by hand, once a day across all your loops, and only while none of them is in the middle of a run. Your loops also share a spending limit; a run it holds back waits for its next turn.
  • If 3 runs in a row fail, the loop pauses. Resume starts it again.
  • A daily email sums up what your loops found - one email a day, and only on a day one of them found something. It is on until you switch it off - on a loop's page once the loop is part of your plan, or, if your plan includes Loops, on your dashboard.
  • What it does not do: give medical advice. Stop and see a doctor if something hurts.
  • To stop it, use Remove your running plan. Your plan and your ticks are deleted, and its past runs are kept.
