Commute Check

Commute Check looks at the weather where you start, at the hour you leave, and where you finish, at the hour you come back, and at what is reported today about the lines and roads you name - and tells you on each of your commute days, before you leave. It reports what it finds, with where it found it; check your operator for the latest.

Commute Check explained 🔰
  • It checks your commute on each of your commute days, before you leave: the weather where you start at the hour you leave and where you finish at the hour you come back, and what is reported today about the lines and roads you take.
  • You give where you start - your account's address or a town or a neighborhood - and where you finish, each of which only a rough area a few kilometers across is used to read the weather; the hours you leave and come back, your commute days, how you travel, up to 3 lines or roads by name and the town they are in. Never a street address.
  • The weather: rain, snow, a risk of ice, a wind of 40 km/h or more, a hard frost or great heat at either hour is told.
  • What is reported: one web search a commute day for a disruption, a strike or a closure on your lines or roads in their town - with only their names and the town in it, never your places - and each page found read for whether it is about today and about those lines. Each report is told with where it was found; check your operator for the latest.
  • How often: a new or changed choice is read at the next hourly run if your limits allow it, then once a day, from 7 am on your clock - on a day that is not one of your commute days it checks nothing and tells nothing. Saving never brings a run sooner than 6 hours after the last one started.
  • Run now starts a run by hand, once a day across all your loops, and only while none of them is in the middle of a run. Your loops also share a spending limit; a run it holds back waits for its next turn.
  • If 3 runs in a row fail, the loop pauses. Resume starts it again.
  • A daily email sums up what your loops found - one email a day, and only on a day one of them found something. It is on until you switch it off - on a loop's page once the loop is part of your plan, or, if your plan includes Loops, on your dashboard.
  • Anyone can see the next hours' rain, ice risk and wind for a town, with no account - nothing about them is kept.
  • To stop it, use Remove Commute Check. Its past runs are kept.
Weather on your way

Type a town or a neighborhood to see the rain, snow, ice risk and wind there over the next 12 hours, on your own clock. No account needed.

The town you type and its country are sent to a service that finds places, and the position it answers is kept for a month for the next person who checks that town. The weather is read for a rough area a few kilometers across. Nothing that names you is kept.
