Ride Window
Ride Window reads the week's forecast for your place and picks the hours that fit your limits - dry enough, calm enough, mild enough, in daylight and within the hours you could go. Each morning it tells you today's best hours, and on Sundays the week's best. Forecasts change; check before you go.
Ride Window explained 🔰
- It finds your best hours outside - to ride a bike or to walk - in the next 7 days' hourly forecast for your place, each hour held to your limits.
- You give your place - your account's address or a town or a neighborhood, of which only a rough area a few kilometers across is used to read the weather - the hours of your day you could go, and your limits: the chance of rain, the wind and the temperature. Each starts at an everyday value.
- An hour fits when every figure was read and is within your limits, with under 0.3 mm of rain, and when it lies wholly in daylight - the sunrise and sunset are worked out for your place. Hours in a row make a window; the longest, driest and calmest come first.
- Each morning it tells you today's best hours; on Sundays, and on its first run, the week's 3 best windows too. You can post your week's best hours to Social with one tap - never your place.
- How often: a new or changed choice is read at the next hourly run if your limits allow it, then once a day, from 5 am on your clock. Forecasts change; check before you go. Saving never brings a run sooner than 6 hours after the last one started.
- Run now starts a run by hand, once a day across all your loops, and only while none of them is in the middle of a run. Your loops also share a spending limit; a run it holds back waits for its next turn.
- If 3 runs in a row fail, the loop pauses. Resume starts it again.
- A daily email sums up what your loops found - one email a day, and only on a day one of them found something. It is on until you switch it off - on a loop's page once the loop is part of your plan, or, if your plan includes Loops, on your dashboard.
- Anyone can see a town's best hours to ride this week, with no account - nothing about them is kept.
- To stop it, use Remove Ride Window. Its past runs are kept.
Best hours to ride this week
Type a town or a neighborhood to see the best hours to ride or walk there this week - dry, calm, mild and in daylight - at everyday limits. No account needed.
The town you type and its country are sent to a service that finds places, and the position it answers is kept for a month for the next person who checks that town. The weather is read for a rough area a few kilometers across. Nothing that names you is kept.
